LG Started Rolling Out The Android 7.0 Nougat Update To Its G5 Smartphone

The newest version of Google’s OS Android 7.0 Nougat, that’s already on the LG V20, is coming to LG G5 in South Korea. The announcement comes the same day the Google’s numbers show just 0.3% of Android devices have Nougat, and Samsung’s beta program for the testing Nougat on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge was announced.

The update is currently hitting units in the LG’s home country of South Korea, while the other regions including the Americas and Asia will get it ‘in the weeks to come.’

5 new features coming to the handset with Android 7.0 Nougat update

Multi-Window support:

Android 7.0 Nougat will add the‘Multi-Window support’ to your LG G5. That will allow you to watch YouTube videos while texting your friend simultaneously. You can also place the two windows either side-by-side or one-above-the-other.

Redesigned Notifications with Quick Reply feature:

Android 7.0 Nougat brings support for smart interactive notifications. These notifications now offer more info and less waste space. Moreover, you can quickly reply texts from the notifications itself without having to open the app.

Also the notifications tray will get custom quick settings option to tweak the panel as per your requirement.

Google Daydream support:

LG G5 is already a futuristic device and with Android 7.0 Nougat, you’ll also get support for Google’s Daydream, the company’s own virtual reality tech. You’re going to like the brilliant QHD display on LG G5 even more as it is one of the best screen in town to offer an immersive virtual reality experience.

Doze Mode:

The Android 7.0 Nougat update also adds a Doze Mode to your LG G5. This feature helps save battery power even when you are on the move. Doze mode just puts your smartphone into low power usage while you carry it in your pocket or purse.

Besides the above mentioned features, your LG G5 will also get File-based Encryption, Direct boot, etc.

New Data Saver mode:

Your LG G5 will also get a new data saver mode, which helps restrict 3G or 4G data usage by the apps running in the background thereby, saving a considerate amount of the mobile data. The feature also allows you to configure the device to update software and apps only when it is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
